The My Science! My Conch! team visited McLeans Town on the East End of Grand Bahama during our trip to the island in October. We had a great group of folks come out and participate in the program. We had students from the College of The Bahamas, students from the primary and junior high schools, and a few fishermen from right there in McLeans Town! We were fortunate enough to use the East End Junior High School as our base. That’s where everyone learned to be a scientist for a day! After learning the measuring techniques, we headed to the biggest conch pile we could find and started measuring. Everyone was excited to test their new skills! We measured quite a few shells and then headed back to the school for some lunch. We wrapped up the day by reviewing our data and saying “see you next time” to our new friends in Mcleans Town.
